Dr. Glenn Slater is originally from Dallas, Texas. He has been married for 45 years and has one daughter.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Arts in History, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University, Commerce. At the age of 46, he went back to school and earned a PhD in History from the University of Tennessee, a journey that took him nine years.

Dr. Slater has published several articles and a book titled "A Christian America Restored: The Rise of the Evangelical Christian School Movement in America, 1920-1952," which focuses on the history of the Christian school movement. In 2023, he won the ACSI Advocacy Award.

He has worked in three Christian schools:
- Greenville Christian School in Greenville, Texas, from 1981 to 2002
- Maryville Christian School in Maryville, Tennessee, from 2002 to 2015
- Covenant Christian School in Conroe, Texas, from 2015 to the present.
